GlaxoSmithKline

GlaxoSmithKline required a new pilot scale high containment granulation suite within an existing facility. Epsilon were tasked with initially providing a feasibility report to identify suitable potential locations and assess the site impact. This was developed into a detail design study which was issued to competitive tender.

GSK had existing equipment that they wanted to redeploy and this required full compliance upgrades for ATEX and contained product transfer complete with GAMP5 WinCC controls and HMI with data acquisition supported by full validation and commissioning and the suite to have the overall appearance of ‘as-new’ total savings on the project approached £1million.

Epsilon were awarded the contract requiring the area to be upgraded to meet ATEX directives along with low humidity and associated civil and utility modifications. The equipment installation included design and execution of all associated disciplines; electro-mechanical plus an impact assessment and connection the various utilities and drains tie-ins. The project was executed on-time and within budget. Total associated costs £550,000.
